According to legend, the Graoully is a dragon that dwelt in the ruins of the Roman amphitheater in south-east Metz until it was driven out in the 3rd century by Saint Clément, the city's first bishop. The dragon can be found in numerous places in Metz, for example in the Cathédrale Saint-Étienne, in the Rue Taison or in the coat of arms of the Football Club de Metz.
