The Reuschenberger mill dates back to the middle of the 19th century. The mill building was built in 1847 as a so-called art mill on the highest level of technology with turbine drive . A mill built in 1477 used to stand at this location. From 1881 to 1932 it was used as a paper mill. The main building was built of brick with a late classical structure and arched windows. The ceilings inside are supported by cast iron columns. The industrial building is connected from the inside with a representative residential building under the same roof.

Over the years, outbuildings have been added to create an industrial complex. Today there are office facilities for various companies and smaller workshops. Parts of the complex are also used for residential purposes.

The ditch and canal system with weirs located on the site is still in operation today. This is used to operate a hydroelectric power plant that generates 1.6 million kWh of electricity annually.

      MonumentEdit

The Reuschenberger Mühle was entered on May 28, 1985 as a monument under no. 172 in the list of monuments in Leverkusen.
