Two documents from the year 1696 in the parish archive of Forst concern the construction of a pilgrimage chapel in Möntenich, which was inaugurated in 1698; it was renovated in 1817. The old pilgrimage chapel had to give way to a new building in 1845, which still stands today and fits in well with the familiar townscape. An old Vesper picture in the chapel dates from the 17th century, which apparently already existed in the original pilgrimage chapel from 1698. In Möntenich, St. Lawrence has been revered as the patron saint of the village since ancient times.
