St. Pankratius is the Catholic parish church in Wiggensbach in the Oberallgäu district.
The listed church consists of a hall building with a short transept and a recessed choir and a northern gable roof tower made of unplastered rolled and quarry stone masonry. The tower is late Gothic. In 1770/71, Johann Georg Specht added an extension in the Rococo style with a nave.
The frescoes in the interior are by Franz Joseph Hermann and the stucco marble altar was built by Johann Georg Wirth.
The church is dedicated to Saint Pankratius. The high altar dates from 1773.

The parish church of St. Pankratius in Wiggensbach was built between 1770 and 1777 under Prince Abbot Honorius von Schreckenstein. The master carpenter and mason was Joh. Georg Specht from Lindenberg. He may have been a student of Peter Thumb, the builder of St. Gallen. His second wife came from Wiggensbach.
The creator of the frescoes is Franz Joseph Hermann (1738-1806). He also created frescoes in the Kempten Residence.
The floor plan of the church is a cross. The Old Covenant (cross beams) and the New Covenant (longitudinal beams) create the connection between heaven and earth.

The church is located directly on the market square, which invites even to linger. Here you can take a break.
