In 1904, the village of Seewalde was renamed "Seewalde" from "Erbpachtstelle Drosedow II," an already operating steam brickworks. After various (hereditary) tenants tried their luck on the site and gradually rebuilt the old buildings, deaconesses and a children's home moved in in the 1930s. In 1940, the upper floors of the "manor house" burned down, the deaconesses left the village, and the Lauenstein Society from Jena moved in in 1941.

Even during the war and postwar years, the society was able to continue operating under difficult conditions – essentially as a children's home for children threatened by bombing in big city areas. In 1949, the GDR expropriated and closed the building. Subsequently, Seewalde initially served as an outpost of the Ückermünde Psychiatric Clinic, then a boarding school was established.
