Ebenhausen Castle was built in the 14th century under the Henneberg family; there may have been a castle in the early days of Ebenhausen. After being destroyed in the peasant uprising in 1525 and during the Thirty Years' War, the castle had to be rebuilt. In 1576 it became the property of Julius Echter von Mespelbrunn and in 1803 it became part of the government of Lower Franconia as part of the secularization. After vacancies in the 19th century, Ebenhausen Castle was used for agriculture after the purchase by Michael Schubert.
