At the beginning of the 20th century (according to other sources, at the end of the 19th century), a brick chapel in the form of a tower was built on the central square of Shchuchin. It was believed that she should protect Shchuchin - at that time mostly wooden - from fires.

Over time, the building fell into disrepair, and in the 1960s it was demolished. But in 2007, on the 470th anniversary of the city, the object was decided to be restored. A clock tower, decorated with a weather vane, was re-erected on the historical site of red brick.
