Road Cycling Highlight
The bridge has an asphalt concrete carriageway resting on a steel structure and two 1.75 m wide pedestrian paths to the side of the boom. The suspension ropes consist of seven closed individual cables in the shape of a hexagon. These are stored on the pylons in cable saddles. The eight-strand retention cables then end in anchor blocks, some of which are above ground, with quartzite facing. Since the renovation in the 1980s, the bridge on the Mettlach abutment has had shock absorbers. The engineering office Eiffel Deutschland Stahltechnologie GmbH, which was responsible for the structural renovation and repair in the 2010s, was awarded the Ulrich Finsterwalder Engineering Prize 2015.Source: wikipedia
