Former restricted area of the GDR border. Since the fall of the wall, it was traversable for 22 years, then closed for 11 years in the south with "Nato wire" - in the old style.
A long fight in the neighborhood and two resolutions by the district parliament resulted in the (re)opening in the summer of 2022.
The plan is to develop a natural recreation area as part of the "Green Belt Berlin" landscape protection area.
