The palace was a donantion from Andrew Carnegie (1835-1919) who was a steel magnate and philanthropist, resulted in the Carnegie Foundation in 1903 and the creation of the Peace Palast. It a great imposing sight when you come around the corner and first see it. There is a peace tree in the grounds where people leave pledges and thoughts.
