Breakfast at Pret a Manger, really nice porridge. Got to area to catch Eurostar and went through the new EES – the Entry/Exit System, only took a couple of minutes. Caught train, 1st class so got a meal and drinks. Really ok, 2 hours from Brussels. Walked to Euston and caught Avanti train. What a come down comparing 1st class. seat was broken and the carriages don't have the same dampening as ICE or IC trains in Europe. Other than Eurostar you don't get food and drink included but they do come around and ask if you want anything. I don't want to go back to 2nd class I will pay the difference if I can... Back home an doing no where for a awhile.

Got to the hotel and went for a walk to the palace where there was a laser show. The lanes leading to the square were chocker blocked, there were thousands of people, kids, animals and push chairs going in both directions. It wasn’t organised chaos but just chaos. The shops were crowded, cafes and restaurants busy while crowds filled the roads of course there were vehicles as well. All trying to occupy the same space. But the people won. Brussels is very expensive now even more than last year. On way home tomorrow…

Stayed in Bonn today shopping, found Unterwega nd Jack Wolfskin stores. Such good quality products, wish Midlands had a selection of outdoor shops other than Go Outdoors and TNF. Checked on trains to get to Cologne tomorrow and founds lucky it’s not Sunday none running. Go to Brussels tomorrow and on way home on Sunday…
