Tips

  • The Church of Saint Stephen[1]
(in Catalan: Església de Sant Esteve) is a church located in the Príncep Benlloch square in Andorra la Vella, the capital of the principality of Andorra. It is a protected property registered in the Cultural Heritage of Andorra. It was built in the 12th century and then restored in the 20th century.

  • It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful religious buildings in Andorra and is considered Andorran cultural heritage.
The interior of the church looks rather modest. Baroque decorative elements and a small but beautiful main altar are a major part of the adornment in the church building. The Romanesque wall painting depicting the apocalypse is definitely worth a closer look. The colorful stained glass windows, which were also used in the bell tower, give the interior of the church an unusual, warm glow.
The church is only open to visitors in July and August and only when there are no masses. Worship services are held all year round in the morning and in the evening, on Sundays also in the morning and at noon. The Esglesia De Sant Esteve can always be visited in the course of a mass celebration.
