The monument to the national economist and economic theorist Friedrich List was erected in 1906 on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of his death. A life-size, seated portrait figure made of white marble is placed in a semi-circular colonnade of white limestone columns. The base is inscribed "FRIEDRICH LIST / 1789 1846" on the front, and a poem by Martin Greif is emblazoned on the back: A lawyer without pay, working hard for the fatherland,
A fighter whose strong will was not bound by gold,
A hero who saw far beyond his time,
A sower, for whom the canopy of stars is ready as a house.
The statue is a work of the sculptor Norbert Pfretzschner, the figure is signed 'NP' on the back. The architectural parts are by C. Valentin Casal.
