The Lauteracher Ried is an old cultural landscape, which is preserved by the agricultural use. Traditional forms of use have changed in the past and still characterize the landscape through alternately extensive and intensive agricultural use. While the northern part of the Lauteracher Ried with its large tree population of birches and oaks gives a nearly park-like character, the Ried opens to the south to a sprawling, low-woodland moor landscape.
