The "mill wheel working group" restored the building of the old sawmill from 1986 onwards. At the same time, the horizontal gate with the water wheel drive was repaired and put into operation on June 3rd, 1987.It is one of the few hydroelectrically operated horizontal gates in NRW. In 2020, the building was extensively renovated with state funds from the "Heimat-Zeugnis" funding program and a modern exhibition room was built inside.
