St. Alban - Fall of a parish church

Today's St. Alban Church in Trebur continues the tradition of the St. Alban parish church, which was abandoned in the 16th century.
Until the 15th century, there was a settlement on the “Vogtei” corridor, which was sheltered on an Altneckar terrace. The first parish church of St. Alban once stood here.
It was the parish church of Trebur in the Middle Ages and was mentioned in a document as early as 985 AD.
The settlement was located on the important Roman road that led from the “Auf Esch” fort near Groß-Gerau to Mainz.
The entire area has important archaeological finds from pre-Roman times. These suggest that the area was inhabited since the early 4th century AD.
