The oldest parts of the brewery and distillery in the Altlandsberg castle estate date from around 1658. The Schwerin brewery has been located in this part of the building since 1659. Later, many additional buildings and changes were added, and the buildings also experienced different uses such as cavalier's house, office building with prison, distillery, warehouse and administration. After 1945, the brewery and distillery was part of the farm yard in the LPG inventory. After the reunification came the decay, in 2012 the first security measures were carried out and after extensive clearance and construction work the reconstruction was realized by spring 2015. Following the old tradition, a brewery and a distillery were put into operation in 2016. Today there is a restaurant with a beer garden and a festival and event hall in the buildings.

The oldest part of the building, which was built at the same time as the palace, housed the Imperial Count Otto von Schwerin's brewery. The assumption of sponsorships by the court brewer Hans Dabergotz in January 1659 is documented in the parish register of the town church. In 1671, Otto von Schwerin acquired a new copper pan for his brewery. The inventory of the royal Prussian official domain records the production of a schnapps distillery in this building in 1728.
