The 110 km stretch between Lodbjerg and Nymindegab is a retreating coast for almost the entire stretch. This means that if coastal protection is not carried out, the coast will retreat. The greatest retreat is seen from Fjaltring to the middle of Ndr. Thorsminde Tange. Here the shoreline would shift backwards by 6-8 m depending on the years without kiss protection. On the other part of the route, 1-4 m of coast is disappearing per year.
