One of 22 identical memorials commemorating the evacuation marches from Dachau concentration camp through the Würm Valley in April 1945. The sculpture comes from Prof. Hubertus von Pilgrim. The first of the monuments was erected in 1989 on the initiative of the former mayor of Gauting, Dr. Ekkehard Knobloch in front of the entrance to the forest cemetery in Gauting. The route monuments mark the route from Dachau via Munich to Waakirchen.
