    It was built as a moated castle to protect today's Gelsenkirchen district Erle and was until 1433 the headquarters of the von Berge family.
    Reconstructed into a castle in the first half of the 16th century and rebuilt in the last quarter of the 18th century, the late Baroque style mansion is on the threshold of classicism. It is now used as a hotel restaurant
