The facility was built in 1956. Today it is equipped with modern technology.
The NRW Foundation has owned this facility since 2005.
A lot of knowledge with the astropeiler went into the construction of the radio telescope📡 in Effelsberg🧭, and after it was put into operation in 1972, research slowly began to move there.
The radio astronomy facility is now operated purely on a voluntary basis.
