On the former railway line "Burgdorf (Han) - Hänigsen Riedel" in Hänigsen, a large conveyor wheel and a cart remind us of the good old mining days.
The railway line running there was built in 1908 as a mine connecting line to access the "Riedel" potash mine and was converted into a small railway in 1909 by the "Burgdorfer Kreisbahnen".
In 1936 (during World War II) a connecting line to the Hänigsen munitions works was built.
Today there is hardly anything left of the old railway line.
A very large information board provides interesting information!
A small oil pump (so-called nodding horse) and a large display board also tell of the decades of oil production in Hänigsen.
