This cemetery was created in Frankfurt in 1997. The city responded to the animal protection society's urging in 1841 by offering them this somewhat remote, partly wooded wasteland near Ludwig-Landmann-Strasse for lease. In the meantime, 3000 animals have been buried there on one hectare. The animal welfare association is the sole shareholder of Tierfriedhof Frankfurt GmbH. According to its own statements, this generates enough money to finance a full-time position for a gardener.
