It is possible to hike in the forest in Los Tilos, but not through the tunnels. I went hiking spontaneously myself and found it life-threatening in some places, despite having a lot of water in my bag. So please do your research first! La Palma is not easy, especially because of the heat.

Hiking

Day hike! On the Los Tilos forest road, approx. 500m in front of the information center, four-wheel taxis are available from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to take you to the starting point of the hike at the "Casa del Monte". The road is not passable with a normal car. Narrow and full of potholes! Costs: €15.00 per person (as of June 2018). Taxi ride takes about 45 minutes. You will need a flashlight and rain gear for the tunnels. You then hike back to the forest road via the Cordero spring.
