The partly forested island belongs to the Stockholm district of Östermalm and has around 800 inhabitants, is 279 hectares in size and has a shoreline of 10,200 m.
A number of museums are located on the central Djurgårdsvägen. These include:
- Vasa Museum,
- Nordic Museum,
- ABBA The Museum,
- Liljevalchs Kunsthalle,
- Aquaria Vattenmuseum,
- Spritmuseum
- Children's Literature Museum Junibacken,
- Vrak (Museum)
- Estonia Memorial.

Djurgården is an island, a district and a park area in the east of Stockholm. The partly wooded island belongs to the Stockholm district of Östermalm and has about 800 inhabitants, is 279 hectares in size and has a shoreline length of 10,200 m. The island is actually called Valdemarsön, but in practice only the district name is used.
