The pilgrimage church of the same name is located at the northernmost point of the Franconian Marienweg on a 674 meter high basalt hilltop in the middle of the forest between Dammersfeld and Mottener Haube. Pilgrims have been worshiping the "Mother of Mercy" here for 500 years.

Located in the middle of the 7000 hectare Wildflecken military training area, the Catholic pilgrimage church has limited access. From May to October this is possible on Sundays and public holidays. For example, on July 30th/31st, 2022, the 3 tours on the hiking weekend also took place here, when the military training area was open to the public for selected routes.
