Very idyllic and often cranes & Co. run directly on the paths. As part of the Drömling wetland, the gable moor is a 670-hectare, wooded fen. It is located in eastern Lower Saxony in the district of Gifhorn near Rühen directly on the border to Saxony-Anhalt. The moor is divided into the Small Gable Moor and the Great Gable Moor. The area is mostly used for forestry. It applies with its riparian forests of alder and birch with autochthonous coniferous tree as the southwestern foothills of the Eastern European alder-rupture forest and the taiga. Because of many endangered animal and plant species the gable moor is under nature protection and is FFH area as well as European bird protection area.
