Vals 3000 plus: Pizzo Cassinello is the most alpine of the marked three-thousanders in the Valsertal. As its name suggests, it is part of the border ridge with Ticino, the neighboring Valle di Blenio. With its small ice field, it boldly towers over the flat valley floor of the Länta and, made of silver gneiss, contrasts with the green meadows and pastures of the Lampertschalp.
Thanks to its proximity to the Länta Hütte SAC and the Passo Soreda, Pizzo Cassinello is one of the most climbed mountains in the Valsertal. And rightly so, because the surrounding glacier world and the view over the Ticino mountains into the Valais and the Bernese and Glarus Alps are spectacular.

The climb from Passo Soreda to the summit leads over impressive gneiss slabs and light scree. Snow can lie until well into the summer, covering the markings. When visibility is good, the mountain presents no problems with orientation, and for particularly courageous alpine hikers, the small lakes along the way invite you to take a refreshing swim on the descent.

Pizzo Cassinello exceeds 3100 m above sea level and is one of the most accessible peaks above 3,000 m in all of Ticino.
