Of the city towers, only the Martinstor and the Witches' Tower remain. The Witch's Tower is part of the city wall built after 1200 AD. But witches were not burned in Ladenburg. The tower contained a window- and doorless prison on the ground floor for thieves and other criminals not sentenced to death (thief storm). The door, which can still be clearly seen from Wormser Strasse, was one floor higher. From there you were then lowered into the dungeon (also called the hole). A medieval-early modern latrine can also be seen on the north-east side. Since 1987, the Witches' Tower has had its pointed roof again thanks to generous donations from the citizens of Ladenburg.
