The Monastery of Oseira is a medieval monastery of Benedictine foundation that throughout its history had great economic and social importance for the region and more distant lands.

It is located in the parish of Oseira, in the municipality of San Cristovo de Cea, province of Ourense.
Its existence has been known since 1137, but in its first years it became a monastery dependent on the Cistercian Order and in 1141 a colony of French monks sent by Saint Bernard was established.

In the year 1835, as a result of the expropriation of Mendizábal, the friars left the convent, which was completely abandoned; the monks returned only in 1929, beginning its reconstruction. From:Wikipedia
