The district of Bad Stuer with a hydrotherapy facility run by the alternative practitioner (“water doctor”) Heinrich Friedrich Francke (pseudonym: J. H. Rausse) was founded in 1845. While the spa guests were initially treated according to the principles of water healing by Vincenz Prießnitz, the methods of healing treatment later followed the views of Sebastian Kneipp. With the outbreak of the First World War, the spa business gradually came to a standstill and finally ended completely when Russian and French prisoners of war were quartered. The route from Malchow to Stuer has it all, it goes up and down. The random decision to ride the tour clockwise was a good idea as we aren't e-bike riding, so no assistance on the climbs. The strenuous part of the tour was definitely the first part.
