Remains of an abandoned tower hill castle. Tower hill castles, also called "moths", were built in the High Middle Ages, around the year 1000. They usually consisted of a natural or artificially raised hill with a tower, surrounded by a ditch and/or rampart with a palisade fence. The archaeological features at this point, however, suggest that an even older building stood here before that, possibly a ring wall system from the Celtic or Late Bronze Age. The tower stood on the mountain spur above the marked highlight position - the forest path below leads directly through the profile of the outer ring wall.

In the vernacular, the hilltop is also called Fröhlichstein; at the top is a stone martyr (shrine from 1761). The tower of the motte (hill castle) stood exactly at the position of the wayside shrine. The inner ring wall followed the semicircle of today's forest road. The outer ring wall was 50 m further down the valley and is cut through by the forest road, clearly showing its profile. On most maps (e.g. OpenStreetmap and thus the Komoot map) the position of the Fröhlichstein as well as the presumed location of the Seibelsdorf tower hill is indicated 50 m too far to the south-east. This becomes clear when you record your tour on Komoot with GPS, take a photo of the wayside shrine and then compare the position of the photo with the map.
