I used to hate it because it felt like every hiking day, from elementary school to high school, led up to this tower. Today I wouldn't want to do without it anymore because of the magnificent view and as a MTB destination: The Radspitzturm with a square base is about 20 meters high, is operated by the Franconian Forest Association and was recently renovated by them. The predecessor was a wooden signal tower built by the Royal Bavarian Cadastral Office in the mid-19th century. Towards the end of the 19th century, nature lovers from Kronach and Stadtsteinach replaced this with a wooden lookout tower eleven meters high. In 1955, members of the Franconian Forest Association erected the tower in its current form. On September 4th, 1955, the Radspitzturm was officially opened with a star hike.
