From the Southern Entrance to the Montlake Dr trail around the Hollywood Reservoir the clockwise loop first crosses the dam with sweeping views of the lake. A turn to the east offers a climb up along the old Mulholland Hwy, which is now a gated trail just for bikers and hikers.
