In the tradition notes of the Bishop of Freising, Glonn is identified as “(flumen) Clana” in 770 (September 26) and as “Glan” in 774 (March 21); This is considered to be the oldest evidence of the founding of the town. A local nobility “de Glana” has come down to us from around 1015, and in 1349 the church of St. Johann zu Glan appears in the building overview Monumenta Boica.
