This church from the time of Ferdinand III was built in the late 13th century in the early Gothic style and is one of the most beautiful in the city. The elegant early Gothic facade features a magnificent and finely worked rose window and originally a portal with three arches, a rarity in this region. The tower is part of the facade and the lower part is where The bell tower is an old massive tower at the height of the nave, the rest is of more recent date and if you look closely, you will see that both parts are slightly out of plumb. The elegance of the whole is emphasized by the color of the natural stone. The sober, harmonious interior consists of three naves with pointed arches on cross pillars. The naves are decorated with a wooden artesonado ceiling in Mudejar style, while the vault in the choir is purely Gothic. Daylight enters through three high and narrow windows. In the apse are preserved some 14th-century frescoes (scenes of the Passion). A chapel on the left is busy with the faithful who come to pray before a beautiful crucifix, the Cristo del Remedio de las Ánimas (17th century), which belongs to the order of the same name and is one of the oldest in Córdoba.

The Iglesia de San Lorenzo in Córdoba is one of the most beautiful and best preserved Romanesque-Gothic churches in the city. It is one of the so-called "Fernandinas churches", built or rebuilt after the reconquest of Córdoba by Ferdinand III of Castile in the 13th century. The church was built in the 13th century on the ruins of a previous mosque. It served to strengthen the Christian presence in the city after the Reconquista. It has been restored several times in the past, adding Gothic, Baroque and later neoclassical elements. The church's bell tower is based on the minaret of the former mosque and has been adapted over time. The church continues to be used as an active parish church.
