    The Monument for Martyrs of the Railway-protection Movement in the Autumn of 1911 has been enlisted in the Third Batch of Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level. It locates in the People’s Park, Qingyang District of Chengdu, was built in 1931 by the Sichuan Railway Company to memorize the martyrs sacrificed in the Sichuan railway protection movement in 1911. The Sichuan railway protection movement was one of the most prominent historical event in the 1911 Revolution period, which was reputed by Zhu De as “The people’s power can move the mountains and the oceans, the revolution advanced”, the movement created conditions and opportunities for the Wuchang uprising; It played an important role in promoting the 1911 Revolution. It is a brick and stone structure of 31.85 meters high, being made of four parts of the terrace, the base, the body and the head of the monument. The terrace imitates the form of a railway platform, being a round column; The base and the body of the monument are in an object corn form, around the base were relief carved with the railway, the locomotive, the traffic lights, the trailing switch, and the automatic coupler; Four big black tablets are embedded in the monument, on which engraved characters of “Monument for Martyrs of the Railway-protection Movement in the Autumn of 1911, Xinhai Year” in 4 different calligraphy stiles of the regular script (Kai), the cursive (Cao), the running script (Xing) and the official script (Li), written respectively by Zhang Kuijie, Yan Kai, Wu Zhiying, and Zhao Xi, who were famous scholars of that time. Being splendid and grand, solemn and respectful, it is the only existing landmark building relates to the 1911 Revolution.
