The date of the residence is the Qing dynasty. It is the only preserved ancient gate of the courtyard in the area of Wenmiao street. According to Tang Zhenchang’s memorie（the expert of literature and history who lived in the Wenmiao street during whose childhood） “Yangzhuozhai ancient and modern talk”, Yu peilun, a famous hero of the 1911 revolution, lived in this compound when he lived in Chengdu. Yu Peilun (1886-1911), a native of Neijiang, studied in Japan in 1905 and joined the Tongmeng society in 1908. He is one of the famous “72 martyrs of Huanghuagang”. The gate is 5 meters wide, column with eaves, and the structure is in good condition, witnessing the historical changes of the old Chengdu and the social vicissitudes of the modern times.
