Flowing 53 miles (85 km) through Cumbria and Lancashire, the River Lune passes through quaint villages, roman ruins and patchwork countryside as it meanders from Newbiggin to Plover Scar. The Lune was once used as an industrial port, perhaps even as early as the Roman times. The picturesque river inspired artists such as J.M.W. Turner, and it's easy to see why.
