Catremerio is a typical historic mountain village of ancient buildings located at 988 m a.s.l. on the slopes of Pizzo Cerro, in a very beautiful position in the Brembilla Valley.

After recent restorations and renovations, in the early nineties, the Borgo has become a privileged destination for cultural tourism.

In Catremerio it is possible to observe some characteristics of the rustic mountain village, with numerous elements still well preserved and with evident evidence of ancient rural activities.

The village has the typical architectural elements of the peasant houses of the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries: vaulted interiors, wooden balconies that connect the buildings, chimneys and tile roofs, drains traced in the pavement, votive aedicules and many other details.

Many of the houses are still inhabited and the peasant vocation of the village is evident, also evidenced by the numerous small stables.

Catremerio is made up of two distinct districts Catremerio Di Là and Catremerio Di Qua.

Catremerio Di Là, also known as the "Baloss = Furbi", is located near the small church of San Gaetano.

The small church of Catremerio in Valle Brembilla dates back to the early 1800s and was dedicated to San Gaetano in 1887.

It became a parish, detaching itself from Brembilla, on which it depended since 1920.

It was restored in 1951-52. Since 1986 the parish of San Gaetano di Catremerio di Brembilla has been aggregated to Sant'Antonio Abbandonato.

In the district of Catremerio "di Là", the dates 1546 and 1581 engraved on the arches of some doors and a fresco of the sixteenth century depicting the piety and the coat of arms of the Carminati family stand out.

The village develops along the mule track that leads from the church to the cemetery with some original houses and others renovated.

The Church stands on an eighteenth-century chapel dedicated to San Gaetano, patron saint of Catremerio.
