The church was built in 1731 by Count Friedrich Eberhard von Hohenlohe-Kirchberg.
It burned down on an icy winter night in February 1929, leaving only the outer walls intact.
The interior was furnished just a year later in what was then the modern "Art Deco" style.
Special features are the organ, the wall paintings, the clay Christ figure and the terracotta columns with various ornaments.
The former defense tower found a new use as a church tower.
There is an opportunity to light a candle in the baptistery.
