Alpe del Gallo Trail

The single trail on the Alp del Gallo was one of the absolute highlights in some Bike Transalp Challenges. In numerous curves and even more serpentines, the single trail meanders from the Jufplaun plateau in Switzerland to the shore of Lago di Livigno in Italy. The border is inconspicuously marked by a few boundary stones at Fuorcla del Gal.

You will come across beautiful alpine meadows and through dense mountain pines, which only open up a lane for bikers. Here, the Lago di Livigno appears squeezed between the flanks of the mountains, like a fjord in Scandinavia.

Thanks to the moderate incline, the trail is great for use in both directions.

Super downhill from the border CH/It Rtg Livignosee down, first meadow trail S0-S1, then gravel path, sometimes slightly rough S1, over the lake narrow (now somewhat wider) exposed little path in a steep gravel slope, whereby two streams are crossed, one of them often gives wet feet.
Further down easily on a gravel path/street to Lago di San Giacomo.
