The Franciscans settle in Waalwijk in 1797; a congregation in Dongen was founded in 1801 by Sister Constantia (van der Linden). Her eye falls on the Bolkenslotje on the Hoge Ham and the sisters transform it into their Mother House. From here, the Franciscan nuns of Dongen are involved in, among other things, educating and educating female youth. They set up a boarding school in Dongen and several day schools in North Brabant and Zeeland.
