Towards the end of the 18th century, the Le Doledec family company began mining a fine-grained rock they called "granite" in the quarries north of Erquy. The stones were cut into blocks, and their surfaces were smoothed and ground. The pink granite was used primarily as a construction material and as gravestones. At the beginning of the 20th century, there were four large quarries in and around Erquy; a century later, there was only one.

The coastal path above the harbor leads past former quarries and the two quarry lakes, Petit Lac Bleu and Grand Lac Bleu.
