Today's Kornhus dates back to the Weser Renaissance around 1550/1600.

The “Stone House” was one of the three stone houses of this time, alongside the manor house of the von Wettbergischen Burghof and the house of Tilemann Büsing am Steinhof, where today's Sparkasse Weserbergland is located. The “Stone House” was the storage building for grain, the grain magazine. Every city had to have a granary for times of emergency (e.g. sieges).

These houses usually contained a bakery, which still existed here in 1928. The first license granted for the “Stone House” dates back to 1924. It was operated as a wine bar and later as a cafe by Karl Jörren. In contrast to the inventory, the outer facade faces Marktstr. hardly changed over the centuries.
