In 1952, Neo Karlovasi, Meseo Karlovasi and Paleo Karlovasi were merged to form the municipality of Karlovasia, making the port town of Karlovassi the second largest city on the island. The five very different districts have retained their very own village charm due to their very different histories.

Cycling

This is the main historical and cultural square in Karlovassi on the island of Samos in Greece. The name comes from the Greek Plateia (square) and Mesaio (middle). Karlovassi is divided into five historical parts, and Mesaio lies exactly between the old (Paleo) and the new (Neo) town.
