Also known as "Castillo Nuevo", this Renaissance fortification was built under the reign of Felipe II at the end of the 16th century. Its purpose was military, fulfilling the simple motto "I defend you and you defend me." Finally with progress in siege weapons, the citadel was partially destroyed in 1888.
Today it is a beautiful park that can be enjoyed by all with a path that goes around it completely on the outside as well as being able to enter inside its walls.
