The Duomo, as it is called in Salerno, was founded in 1076 and has a courtyard surrounded by porticoes on four sides. A grand Romanesque doorway, called Porta dei Leoni (Lion's Gate) after the two marble lions that flank it, leads into the peaceful space. Here you can walk through the courtyard and breathe in the splendor of medieval Salerno.
