Close to the former fort 't Boerenmagazijn is the Vlaamse Kreek, an elongated creek especially famous for its orchid grassland. Reed warblers, moorhens and other birds breed in the reeds. In winter there are always ducks and geese in the area. You can only visit the vulnerable orchid terrain during a guided tour, but from the road you get a reasonable picture of the area. Beautiful and valuable creeks can also be found near the Groot Eiland northwest of Hulst and in the Grote Putting near Hengstdijk.
