Today only a myth that testifies to the harsh living conditions in this area. Leopoldsreut was abandoned by its inhabitants many decades ago. At 1,100 meters there were many storms, snow and forces of nature. There was no electric light, no pressurized water pipe and no snow clearing. At some point it was too much for the last inhabitants. Today you can see how nature keeps the remains of the village. Only the old school building is still there and the church, which was again nicely prepared.
